2006 Annual Fund Raiser Details - YCCC Youth Scholarship
Mark Pride, K1RX

The Raffle drawing that supports the YCCC Youth Scholarship Program is scheduled to be
conducted at the end of the General Meeting in Boxboro, MA - ARRL New England & Hudson
Division Convention.  Meeting starts at 3:30 PM Saturday, August 26, 2006.

The YCCC continues to sponsor a highly valued scholarship program, and we do
this through our annual fund-raiser and raffle. Last year, we were able to ease
the financial burden for college-bound Matthew M. Rozea, KC2IGE, with a
scholarship in the amount of $1,200. Here's some of what Matt had to say in
appreciation of the scholarship award:

". . . This award is a great help for both me and my family in paying for the
cost of my college education . . . It is both humbling and an honor to have
been selected for this generous award . . . ham radio is more than chasing DX
and collecting QSL cards . . . My first experience with Field Day quickly made
me aware of the important and critical public service role we hams play . . .
If there is nothing else I discover from this hobby, it will be the value ham
radio plays in disaster and emergency situations . . . Again, I would like to
extend my thanks to your group . . ."

Supporting the scholarship fund is a great reason to get involved. But, having
a chance to win some of amateur radio's hottest new gear is another darn good
reason!

Scholarship raffle tickets this year are $25 each (as in past years) and the
prize list is very exciting, including two top prizes - an Acom 1010 HF
Amplifier and an Icom 756 Pro lll. The Acom 1010 Amplifier covers 160-10m and
gives you a reliable 700 watts on all bands. It's unique design includes Acom's
True Resistance Indicator (TRI) technology which makes tune-up a snap. A whole
host of protection features ensure that the amplifier always operates under
safe conditions. This amp is perfect for home and/or DXpedition use. This Icom
756 Pro III is more than just a great radio. It is provided "good-to-go" for
your next DXpedition as it comes with a custom Pelican shipping container and
PS125 power supply. This is the same package that Icom currently makes
available to the biggest DXpeditions. Additional prizes are being supplied by
ARRL Publications, Array Solutions, Radioware, Heil, MFJ, Bencher and other
well known amateur radio equipment manufacturers.

Although we encourage each of you to try to make this meeting, you do not have
to be there to win the top prizes (Icom 756 Pro lll and Acom 1010, raffled off
separately). All prizes other than the 756 Pro III and the Acom 1010 must be
claimed at the time of the drawing on a first come, first serve basis. You can
buy as many raffle tickets as you like; there are no discounts. You will have
to be a member in good standing with the YCCC prior to receiving your raffle
ticket(s).
